Whether you’ve found yourself without dinner reservations or are failing to make the moment special, here are some tips on surviving Valentine’s Day!
By: Jacob La Cava
Valentine’s Day can be an incredibly divisive holiday, depending on where you currently are in life and how the days leading up to February 14th play out. If everything is going smoothly and both you and your valentine have agreed on plans, then you’re mostly in the clear. However, if you’ve hit some road bumps on the way – can’t get reservations, couldn’t get a gift in time, etc. – then the entire ordeal can be knocked off course and end in a spiraling fireball of disappointment.
Nobody wants this to happen, which is why it’s so important to know how to deal with these situations without being subjected to a full self-implosion. Here at CBDfx, we’ve brainstormed a few ways in which you can avoid disaster this Valentine’s Day, as well as how to approach the roadblocks that you might have to face. While we hope that you don’t necessarily have to use all of these tips, they’ll definitely come in handy given certain circumstances.
Here’s the CBDfx guide to surviving Valentine’s Day:
Planning ahead is going to be the possible way to approach Valentine’s Day. Whether you’re planning to take your Valentine to a fancy dinner or are going somewhere else that you both enjoy, such as a bowling alley or movie theater, planning ahead is the only way to ensure that your plans won’t fall through at the last minute. It’s not foolproof of course, and plans can still be shut down for sudden, unavoidable reasons, but if you already have reservations at a restaurant or tickets to a movie, you don’t have to worry about waiting too long and missing your opportunity to seal the deal. Nothing is more annoying than planning out a full night of Valentine’s Day activities, letting your plans get your hopes up, and then finding out that you waited too long and half of the activities are no longer available to you.
If you plan ahead and secure the table or tickets that you were looking for, good on you; your initiative has paid off big time. If you didn’t plan ahead and you need to cobble something new together at the last minute, don’t panic. There are lots of last-minute activities that you and your date can do together that don’t require a reservation or planning far in advance.
If you missed out on reserving a table at one of your favorite restaurants and it’s too late to look for other spots, a picnic date could be just the thing for you. While it might not be a gourmet meal at a 5-star establishment, it does show your date that you thought about them. It’s also a very personal kind of date, and the fact that you prepared food for the two of you shows that you did put in work to make it all possible. If you aren’t going to see each other until the nighttime, you could also simply cook her meal. This is another showing of effort that’s almost certain to win your date over!
A Hearty Hike
If you have early plans, a hike could be a great way to spend Valentine’s Day. Find a hiking trail that neither of you have gone on before and get there nice and early. Hikes are a great form of low intensity exercise, and unless you dislike the outdoors, the natural setting will offer a feeling of peace that could strengthen the bond between the two of you. Before you head out, make sure to bring some CBDfx Muscle Balm to use before and after the hike, and maybe some gummies too if you feel like you’re feeling like it.
Know Your Valentine
This might feel a bit obvious, but knowing what your Valentine date likes and dislikes is going to be essential when it comes to enjoying this holiday. If you know your date’s interests, you’ll be able to plan out activities that they’re sure to appreciate. Similarly, if you’re planning on getting them a gift, you can use what you know about them, such as their hobbies and favorite movies or tv shows, to educate the type of gift that you pick up for them. They’re all but guaranteed to notice that you chose it based on their interests, showing them that you both listen to them and care enough to find something that you knew they would like.
Let’s say that you don’t know what they like exactly, and you’re short on time. No reason to panic, we’ve got you covered. Oftentimes, a gift doesn’t have to correspond to one of their hobbies or general interests; it can be connected to something that’s personal to the two of you. Think back to other times that the two of you have hung out; maybe a fancy dinner date or the time that you tried out CBD face masks together. Try to remember the moments that really stuck out to you and made the tip memorable. This is going to be the basis for your gift: something that taps into those close moments that the two of you shared, taking your valentine back on a trip through memory lane. It was your past that led the two of you to where you are today, you should look back on it together with fondness. Your date is bound to appreciate how thoughtful you were in remembering the fun times that the two of you have had.
Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone
But wait, Mr. CBDfx blog post, isn’t leaving my comfort zone going to leave me, and consequently the entire date, in an awkward, unprepared position? The short answer to that is: yes, it will, but in a good way. There’s nothing wrong with being comfortable and choosing a location or activity that won’t take you out of your comfort zone, and if you feel that your date will actively object to trying new things, then stick to a safe date idea. However, if you feel like they’ll be okay with – or even interested in – trying something that neither of you have done, then this could be the perfect opportunity to do something that you’ve never done before.
This could mean any number of activities, depending on what the two of you have already done before. Have you ever gone skydiving? Is the interest in skydiving present, but the thought of actually launching yourself out of a plane thousands of feet in the sky makes you want to throw up? Splurge a bit and sign up for classes, or play it a bit safer and sign up for a simulated version. You don’t even have to spend a lot of money to get out of your comfort zone; go on a road trip for the weekend, visiting places that you’ve never been to before and enjoying a variety of different local activities and cultures. The whole experience will bring the two of you closer together in a way that might not be achieved if you decide to make plans that won’t challenge your comfort levels.
If you follow these tips, not only will you survive Valentine’s Day this year, but it’ll likely be the best Valentine’s Day that you’ve ever had! As always, a last bit of advice would be to simply act like yourself; nothing more, nothing less. It’ll be obvious if you’re not being yourself, and you’ll be able to have much more fun if you don’t have to maintain a facade the entire time. Thanks for reading this blog, and good luck tonight!
Oh, and one last tip: don’t take your date out to see a Kevin James movie this Valentine’s Day; trust us, it never works…
