If you have a cat in your family, you know that having one is an amazing rollercoaster ride full of love, play and catnaps. Cats always rule the homes they live in!
Knowing that the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) regulates pain and inflammation in animals, CBD could be a useful adjunct in improving a cat’s quality of life. Some veterinary colleagues that have used CBDfx oil for their own personal cats have shared positive anecdotal experiences.
I would have easily given CBDfx oil to our bottle-fed kitty Bernard. We will never forget you.
Humans have used hemp for centuries, for everything from rope and paper to medicinal applications. Hemp was even used in animal feed, as a low-priced, nutritious filler. In recent years, many hemp-derived products have focused on the wellness and calming aspects of CBD and other compounds called cannabinoids, which are found in abundance in the hemp plant. As a result, CBD’s popularity has exploded, with hemp-derived products as diverse as CBD gummies, CBD tinctures, CBD topicals, and even CBD cookies on the market. One area that has grown greatly in recent years is CBD for pets, particularly dogs and cats.
CBD for cats is a no-brainer for a lot of cat owners, particularly when those kitties decide to turn the house into the Talladega Superspeedway at 3 in the morning. CBD provides calming effects, as well as a bevy of wellness benefits.**
Cats and Cannabinoids
As a protective cat parent, it’s natural to ask, “Is CBD safe for cats?” The answer is a resounding “yes.” While study on CBD and cannabis, in general, is still running in catch-up mode, anecdotal evidence is overwhelmingly positive. In order to better understand the effect of CBD on cats, perhaps it’s a good idea to provide a little background.
Like all vertebrates, felines have an endocannabinoid system. This system interacts with the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system, helping to regulate several key bodily functions. CBD (or cannabidiol) is one of a group of chemical compounds, called cannabinoids, that are found in the hemp plant. These cannabinoids help boost the performance of the ECS, providing a wealth of wellness benefits. Think of hemp-derived CBD as a safe, all-natural booster for one of your cat’s most vital systems.**
And yes, THC is a cannabinoid, too. And THC is not healthy for your pet. It should be avoided at all costs. Fortunately, CBD pet products all have below 0.1% THC levels, as required by the FDA. And unlike THC, cannabidiol is non-psychoactive, meaning it won’t get your cat “high.”
Stress, Hyperactivity, and the Zoomies
Yes, cats can be … difficult. Some of that is just good fun. They like to go nuts and run around. Some of it is hard-wired into their nature. For instance, the innate hunting schedule of a cat is between 3 and 5 in the morning — so there’s science behind their late-night insanity.
CBD calming products can ease their nerves, and help them better integrate into your household and any other situation that might upset them, from energetic children to loud cars or fireworks. Our CBD Pet Tincture gives your cat the calming relief of broad spectrum CBD in a delicious, all-natural hemp oil, with the strength tailor-made for the size and weight of a cat. Mix it into their favorite food or feed it to them straight from the dropper. They’ll enjoy the flavor and, more importantly, they’ll experience the calming wellness benefits of CBD. One last note of importance: all of our CBD hemp oil for pets is made with organic hemp, non-GMO, and vegan — so you can be assured you’re giving your BFF the very best.
Purity and Effectiveness
At CBDfx, we use only the purest hemp to make our CBD products — including CBD for cats. All of our hemp is grown in the state of Kentucky and processed under the strict cannabis guidelines of the FDA. We use a third-party laboratory to test all of our products, and we make those lab tests available for everyone to see. These tests show you not only how much CBD and other ingredients are in your cannabis product, but they also tell you the levels of things that should not be in your product, like pesticides, heavy metals, and other harmful chemicals that can be soaked up from the soil around the hemp plant or during the oil extraction process. With CBD made from organic hemp and processed with safe CO2 extraction, we provide you and your kitty with the safest, purest CBD products on the market.

FAQs
No. The CBD we use in all of our products is derived from the form of cannabis called hemp. Hemp, by law, contains less than 0.3% THC, the cannabinoid that gets you high. THC, by the way, is toxic for cats and dogs, so make sure to never give them any products that contain marijuana, which is high in THC. To make our cat CBD even safer, we use a form of CBD oil called broad spectrum oil, which removes even the tiny, non-intoxicating trace amounts of THC found in hemp oil.
CBD is completely safe for your cat to consume, in the same way that it’s safe for human consumption. Consult your veterinarian if you are thinking of adding CBD or any other supplement to your cat’s routine.
Some cats enjoy taking an oil tincture right from the plastic dropper, particularly with our new vegan chicken flavor, which cats love! Other cats may prefer to have it added to food, water, or a favorite treat.
Every cat, just like every human, is different. As a result, there is no one-size-fits-all answer. It’s best to start with a small amount, such as half a serving, and work your way up, if necessary. Our recommended serving size for a cat is a half dropper in the morning and a half dropper at night — so a fourth or a third of a dropper should be good for a first-time serving. If you do decide to increase the serving size (mg), be sure to wait until the following day to do so. That way, you’ll be able to accurately assess your cat’s needs, and you won’t accidentally give them too much.
We use all human-grade ingredients in our pet tinctures, including our CBD Cat Tincture. That means the exact same CBD oil and MCT oil that we use in our “people tinctures” is what we use in our CBD oil tinctures for cats and dogs. The only difference is that the mg of CBD is much less in a cat tincture, to account for their smaller body size, and we don’t flavor our human CBD oils with natural vegan chicken flavors. But sometimes we wish we did!
There is no universal CBD serving size for animals or humans. Unlike humans, pets are unable to vocalize the way that CBD is affecting them, so this manner of estimating their personal serving sizes is not feasible. Weight, then, becomes the best measuring tool for establishing how much CBD your cat (or any animal) should have. The amount of CBD increases in relation to the weight of the animal, meaning that a larger, heavier animal is going to require a much larger serving of CBD than one that is smaller and lighter. Height can also be used as an indicator of CBD intake, and can be treated in a similar fashion. The 250 mg strength of your CBD Cat Tincture is formulated for animals 20lb or smaller.
