Should You Take CBD At Work?

Given the legal status of CBD, you’ve probably questioned whether it’s right to take CBD at work.

And the workplace brings all types of emotions out of us.

Some days we’re rocking it, and other days we’re in the weeds, stressed out beyond comprehension.

It’s natural to wonder how accepted CBD is in your workplace. After all, your workday could stand to be a little more laid back on most days.

If you’re thinking about this, you’re not alone because CBD’s popularity shows no signs of slowing down. And we’re all thinking of different ways to include these astounding cannabinoids in our lives—especially at work.

However, before you create a secret stash inside your desk, let’s touch on some important things to consider.

What’s Your Employer’s Policy on CBD?

One of the more significant factors to keep in mind is how your company feels about CBD.

Some companies maintain a zero-tolerance policy regarding any substances. Please take a peek at your company’s policy to see where they stand on the matter.

It’s helpful to note it’s probably out of the question for federal employees and those with government contract employment situations. These are the types of employers that fall under the zero-tolerance policy we mentioned a moment ago.

In some cases, it may be plausible as long as it doesn’t show up on a drug test. If this sounds more like your situation, look into CBD products that are THC-free. These would be products made with broad-spectrum oil or CBD isolate.

But It’s Legal, Right?

We’re talking about employers accepting CBD in the workplace. Sure, it’s legal federally, but you’re probably wondering if it’s legal to take CBD at work.

The Farm Bill of 2018 legalized the production of agricultural hemp, products, distribution, and other parts of the process but with one stark determiner. The hemp has to come from the hemp plant, not the cannabis plant.

We know, sounds confusing, right?

CBD is derived from either the hemp plant or cannabis plant, both under the cannabis sativa L category. They look the same and smell the same, but the chemical compounds differ. CBD’s therapeutic effects have a lot to do with a THC content that’s less than 0.3%.

When you’re shopping around for products, make sure to look at the certificate of analysis (COA). This lab report will specify the exact amount of THC in the product. This way, you can confirm you’re getting exactly what you need to make CBD work for you at work.

How Can It Help During the Workday?

Once you’ve given yourself and your work situation the “green light,” you can start looking at how CBD can encourage positive changes to your work environment.

You love your job, but it can get monotonous at times.

When we experience this feeling, it’s natural to lose focus and motivation. You’ll find yourself staring at your screen, mentally blanking out.

Who doesn’t need a boost of mental clarity to get back on track with daily goals once in a while?

Some days, we don’t have the energy required to be productive as we’d like to be. While CBD provides relaxing vibes for most, it produces energizing effects for others. This has everything to do with your body chemistry—our bodies respond to things in their own way.

Perhaps, the number one workplace complaint revolves around how sitting at a computer all day, pounding away at the keyboard, leaves people feeling.

Or, maybe you have a co-worker who pushes the limit a little too often? Whatever it is, we all know there are many work scenarios CBD can help us out with.

What’s the End Goal?

If you’re trying to decide what kind of CBD product would benefit you the most in your workplace, think about what the end goal is.

What do you hope to achieve with CBD in the workplace?

This is what will point you in the right direction, product-wise. Additionally, if you’re new to CBD, it’s helpful to know how your body responds to CBD. It’s not the best idea to experiment with concentrations and serving amounts while you’re on the clock.

If you struggle with the discomfort associated with redundant movements, you can look into topical products. These products range from lotions, balms, salves, and much more.

However, suppose you’re looking for something to balance out the chaos of the day. In this case, you’ll want to look into some of the other options available such as CBD gummies, tinctures, vape pens, etc.

Let’s Get More Specific

Now that you have a better understanding of CBD and the workplace let’s look at how you can incorporate different products into your workday.

CBD Gummies: There’s a reason CBD gummies are a crowd favorite. They’re portable, which makes them extremely convenient.

You can keep a few in your desk drawer and eat them as needed throughout the day. Another reason people love them for workdays is they come as low as 5mg per gummy—the perfect amount for daytime endeavors.

CBD Tincture Oils: This option offers less flexibility because it’s less discreet. However, you could take advantage of your tincture before you leave the house in the morning, and it will last for a good portion of the day.

If your energy fluctuates throughout the day, try a wellness tincture with CBG. It provides energizing effects as opposed to the relaxing vibes a standard tincture provides.

CBD Capsules: If you have a little more experience with CBD and consider yourself to have a higher tolerance, capsules are a viable option.

They’re potent enough to get you through the bulk of the workday. On average, they contain 25mg and higher per capsule. They’re also discreet enough to carry along to work.

CBD Vape Pens: Once again, it depends on how progressive your employer is, but at the very least, you can indulge a bit on your lunch break. You don’t need a lot when it comes to vape pens.

All it takes is a few pulls because your body absorbs the cannabinoids at a much higher rate since it goes straight into the bloodstream through the lungs.

Things to Keep in Mind When Blending CBD Into the Workday

If you do all your research and find you’re good to go, make sure you start with smaller amounts. You don’t experience any unnecessary side effects while on the clock.

We all experience highs and lows when it comes to our work weeks. This leaves us searching for something to balance it all out.

CBD is capable of this and much more. It’s no wonder everyone wants to know if they can bring it to work!
