What Are the Downsides of CBD Vaping?

A collection of CBD vape pens

Ever since vaping went big-time around 2015, people have wondered what the downsides of CBD vaping might be.

As a wildly popular alternative to smoking, vaping is more convenient and allowed in far more places. There are advanced devices you can use to take advantage of CBD’s wellness benefits anywhere you go.

Like anything, there are some downsides to CBD vaping. While these downsides may not deter you from doing it, they can be annoying, so let’s commiserate!

When you think about it, vaping utilizes some amazing technology. Electricity from a small battery goes into a metal coil and heats up to where compounds like CBD vaporize into tiny particles that can be absorbed by the lungs.

Somehow, this space-age technology fits right into your pocket.

Or does it?

Carrying a Huge Vape Pen Sucks

A woman vaping by a windowWhen buying a vape pen, you basically have two options: small enough to fit in your pocket with a small, weak battery, or a good battery housed in a 10-ton brick.

To that someone out there who reads this and objects, yes, there is an in-between.

It’s just hard to find.

Most people who vape have to carry around a sizeable device, along with vape juice and spare batteries. It’s inconvenient, but it’s what you have to do. In a perfect world, vape pens would be powered by cold fusion and recharged with solar energy, but alas.

One way around this is to buy a single-use, disposable vape that doesn’t need to be recharged. These pens are small enough to carry around with you, and because no space is wasted on replacement details, they contain enough CBD to keep you covered for a few days or more.

Disposable pens are popular because they don’t suffer from problems that regular vapes have, like burnt out coils and broken chambers.

This leads to the next point.

Vape Pens Break a Lot

When you vape every day, you start to learn which parts need to be replaced on a regular basis, turning your home into a sort of vape shop. Because vape pens conduct electricity so often, parts wear out quickly.

Owning a vape pen means having to keep spare batteries, coils, vape juice, and even chambers for the liquid itself. While this is a small price to pay for being able to keep a vape device on you at all times, it can be frustrating whenever it happens.

There really is no solution to this. All vape pens are susceptible to these kinds of problems, which means that you will probably have to replace yours once a year or more, depending on how often you’re using it.

Plus, if you’re using an expensive vape, parts will cost a lot.

Effects from Vaping Don’t Last Long

A woman vapingVaping isn’t the only way for CBD to enter the bloodstream, and the way it enters affects how long you feel it. One reason people choose chewable tablets over vape pens is that vaping offers a short-lived benefit.

When a large dose of CBD is vaporized, it is quickly absorbed into the bloodstream and creates a powerful effect.

However, because it’s so easy to absorb CBD from a vape pen, the effects wear off quickly—usually providing relief for no more than an hour or two.

This can lead to tolerance for some users, although not for everyone. When the effects of CBD wear off, you may feel like vaping more, and your body may not respond to it as much as it did before. However, there is no conclusive evidence that this is the case for everyone. If you feel your CBD vape isn’t hitting you as much as it did before, give yourself a break to recover.

People Might Give You the Stink Eye

Vaping has some negative stigma in American culture. Despite the fact that vaping doesn’t leave odors on your clothes or in a room for days after, people have decided to make an issue out of others who do it.

It’s impossible to tell if someone is vaping CBD or tobacco, and that makes some people uncomfortable.

Even if you’re careful about the personal space of others, you might get judged.

Joke’s on them though. You’re the one who gets to enjoy the wellness benefits of CBD without having to inhale hot smoke or wait for chewable tablets to kick in.

At some point, you’ll have to face the fact that you can’t really hide vaping, and people will notice. Hopefully, time will change this weird lapse in how vaping is perceived, but for now, it’s something we have to endure.

CBD Can Be Expensive

A man sitting down at his laptopQuality varies in CBD products. You can go for the cheap stuff they sell at the smoke shop, and technically it will contain a verified amount of CBD. What they don’t tell you, however, is that the cheap stuff is grown with chemicals and synthetic pesticides that alter its effects. When you’re inhaling vaporized particles directly into your lungs, the last thing you want is some lab-made pesticide going into your body.

Unfortunately, buying high-quality organic CBD costs more. Depending on how often you vape, a good-sized bottle of CBD can cost you around $50 a month or more. This makes it a good idea to find a vendor who sells quality products and offers discounts from time to time.

Is it worth it? We think so. Over the last few years, CBD has skyrocketed in popularity as a wellness product, and its mild effects don’t take any getting used to. CBD vaping has made it easier than ever to enjoy wellness benefits wherever you are.

So, Should You Vape CBD?

Wow. Tough question right there. Aside from when the FDA approved CBD as a treatment for certain kinds of epilepsy, hard data on CBD vaping is still underway.

While many users rave about the positive benefits, vaping CBD is up to you. As the practice becomes more popular, all we can say is that lots of people like to do it.

There are plenty of other ways to enjoy CBD, so take some time and explore the options you have available.
